It’s this time of the year again when we celebrate and honor our dearly beloved mothers and mothers-to-be. Indeed, you deserve to be celebrated for all the love, hard-work, and sacrifices that you freely give to your children. In fact, you should be celebrated and honored every day. How can we ever repay your love and goodness?


It’s a given: being a mother is not an easy task. It’s a non-stop vocation, no days-off. It’s so easy for you to get caught in your busy lives: juggling work, household chores, taking care of the kids and the family, and more! You might even forget to prioritize your personal well-being as well. So here are a few tips to help you be on the top of your game as your own household’s Wonder Woman:


  1. Make sure that you are well-rested

Sleep plays a very important role in your daily routine. If you are well-rested, you are more able to do your daily tasks with ease and accuracy. Although, this might come off as a challenge to you who are constantly trying to juggle a lot of stuff in a day, but it will benefit you more if you set a regular bedtime that fits your schedule. Allot that 5-7 hours of sleep out of your 24 hours.


  1. Consider family nutrition a smart investment

You might think that this will consume too much of your limited time, but preparing a healthy meal for your family — that includes you— can go a long way. How we eat has a great impact on our health and well-being. You may consider using weekends as a time to prepare the week’s meal in advance.


  1. Schedule “you” time

Proper self-care is equally important as a proper diet and regular exercise. “You” time, whether it be an hour of a relaxing bath, a nap, a yoga class, time with friends, a nature hike, or window shopping— is a necessity. Respond to what you think you need most in that moment.


  1. Don’t forget to get your daily dose of exercise

Try to squeeze in at least 2 ½ hours of moderate physical activity per week in your daily routine. Try doing an after dinner walk, or early morning jog. You might be surprised but doing house chores or taking care of a toddler also counts as physical activity! There are many studies that indicate that several micro workouts can be even more effective than a sustained one-hour workout. Point is you have to keep yourself active.


  1. Play with your kids

For those mommies who still have youngsters— playing with your kids can be a surprisingly effective way to refill your happiness tank. Even just 15 minutes of quality, uninterrupted playtime can do the trick.

       2. Stay properly hydrated

Keep a filled water bottle with you throughout the day and keep drinking from it often. Remember that adults are supposed to drink at least 2 liters of water every day. Ditch those sodas which contain a lot of sugar and replace it with water. You can never go wrong with good old H2O.

       3. Make breakfast non-negotiable

Don’t apply that double standard about eating breakfast: you are often very strict when it comes to your kids getting a healthy breakfast but skip it yourself. Note that a cup of coffee will not suffice as breakfast. Eat a complete meal— full of lean protein, fiber, and other nutrients. Studies have shown that eating a balanced breakfast helps give you energy to perform your tasks. Eating breakfast also prevents you from overeating on the next meal because of that feeling of fullness.

Gardenia Egg and Sardines Canape


2 slices of Gardenia Wheat Cranberry Loaf

5 pc of hard-cooked eggs,

5 sardines, boned and skinned

Salt and cayenne pepper to taste

1 tablespoon lemon juice, or to taste

1 tsp Butter

Parsley, minced


Finely chop the egg. Combine sardines with a little oil from the can; mix to a paste and season with salt, cayenne pepper, and lemon juice.

Cut thin slices of bread into small rounds with a biscuit cutter; saute in butter until light brown on both sides.

When cool, spread with the sardine paste, sprinkle parsley in the center of each round.
