As part of our continuous commitment to sustainable green practices and enhancing the learning environment of underserved students, Gardenia Philippines recently donated 100 school chairs made from 100% single-use plastics to Quezon Hill Elementary School in Baguio City on February 27, 2025.
The turnover ceremony at Quezon Hill Elementary School was attended by school officials, students, and faculty members, wherein School Principal Maria O. Palsi, SPTA President Anna Rose Mayhay, and Faculty President Maria Corazon Saturnina D. Boaging accepted the chairs on behalf of the school from the Gardenia representatives who were also present in the event.
During the event, the students and members of the faculty also participated in a lecture on the 7Rs of sustainability: Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Repurpose, Reuse, Repair, and Recycle facilitated by Gardenia. This initiative aims to inspire young minds to embrace eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.
Gardenia’s mascots, Gardee and Niña, made a special appearance, bringing smiles to the students & teachers, and excitement to the ceremony. The school also received several packs of fresh and nutritious Gardenia bread to make their snacks more MaSigLakas!
This is the third batch of our school chair donation since the program began in 2023. So far, a total of 12,000 kilograms of empty Gardenia packaging and other plastic wastes have been converted into 400 sturdy classroom chairs, improving the learning environment for students in the beneficiary schools. These include Gun-Ob High School in Lapu-lapu City, Cebu and Cabantian Elementary School in Davao City.
Through our #GoingGreen effort, we at Gardenia Philippines remain committed to building a more sustainable future while enriching the lives of several students and creating a lasting, positive impact on communities nationwide.
