Gardenia Philippines donated 176 school chairs made from 100% recycled plastics to Mohon Elementary School in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental—marking its eighth batch of chair donations through the Plastic Collection Drive.

Through this initiative, single-use plastics collected by participating barangays and campuses are transformed into durable school chairs for schools in need.

This turnover is the largest donation to a single school to date, made even more meaningful by the participation of Tagoloan’s Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), which produced some of the chairs using its own recycling facility—highlighting the power of collective action in promoting sustainability.

Inspiring learners to pursue their studies

For Principal Mariepet Asis, the chairs go beyond furniture; they represent care, support, and a better learning environment where students can learn with dignity, inspiring them to go to school everyday and pursue their studies.

Students and teachers were also given fresh Gardenia bread, participated in a talk on the 7Rs of sustainability, and enjoyed a special appearance by the Gardenia mascot, Gardee.

Gracing the turnover were (left to right): Sangguniang Bayan Member Galmer Taban, Tagoloan Vice Mayor Rolando Emano Seno, Nutrimax Fresh-Baked, Inc. Plant Manager Russel Talampas, Public Schools District In-Charge Imelda Emano, Mohon Elementary School Principal Mariepet Asis, Unang Kagawad of Barangay Mohon Wilson Dailo, SPTA President Vanessa Kaye Panugan and Engr. Jose Rey Joyno of MENRO Tagoloan.

Through its #GoingGreen efforts, Gardenia continues to champion sustainability while uplifting communities and creating a lasting impact for future generations.
