Gardenia’s President and GM is 2011 AGORA AWARDEE FOR MARKETING MANAGEMENT


The Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) awarded Mr. Simplicio Umali, Jr., Gardenia’s President and General Manager, the 2011 Agora Outstanding Achievement in Marketing Management. PMA recognizes exemplary efforts of companies and individuals who implement versatility, innovativeness and ingenuity in the field of marketing through its prestigious Agora, which is considered as the beacon of Philippine Marketing Excellence, only awarded to the best of the best.

Mr. Umali joined the rosters of Agora awardees that have set new benchmark in marketing achievement, rallying their brands and marketing efforts through a combination of unique and inspiring programs and strategies. As the marketing brains of the highly successful Gardenia brand, he steered its sales 18-fold over the past 12 years.

With his leadership, Gardenia was able to capture more than 65% market share in Metro Manila by delighting consumers with innovations in high-quality product offering, distribution, promotions, packaging and merchandising. The company was able to change the way bread is produced with its fully-automated manufacturing plant using the finest ingredients all over the world ensuring consumers that they get only the best Gardenia bread every single day.
